A Whole New Way to Play from the Virginia Lottery

The way you play the Virginia Lottery is about to change. Introducing MobilePlay: a whole new gaming experience within the Virginia Lottery app on your mobile device.

Not only are you able to purchase tickets for all your favorite draw games such as Mega Millions and Pick 3, but we’ve also introduced a whole new line of e-games available only through MobilePlay!

How Does It Work?

MobilePlay works by connecting to a Bluetooth® signal sent out by a Virginia Lottery retailer. Whenever you are in range of a retailer, you can open the Lottery app, select a game and play!

Before you can get down to gaming, you’ll need to download the Virginia Lottery app. After the download, you just need to create an account (or log into your existing Virginia Lottery account), select a payment method and add funds to your player wallet.

MobilePlay FAQs:

A: The first and most important step is to have your phone present at a Virginia Lottery retailer. MobilePlay uses Bluetooth technology to connect to the retailer and make the purchase, which it can’t do somewhere else, such as your home.

Next, make sure you’re logged into a Virginia Lottery account (you can create a new account in the app if you don’t have one). Then, add a valid payment method and deposit $5 or more to your player wallet. Once these steps are complete, you are ready to play!

A: Tap Login/Register at the top of the app, and provide your personal information (name, billing address, phone number) and the last four digits of your Social Security number to confirm your identity and that you are 18 or older.

A: Open the main menu, and, under My Account, tap Banking Options. Tap Add a Payment Method, and select Debit Card, PayPal or Bank Account ACH.

For a debit card, you will need the card number, expiration date and CVV code. For Paypal, you will need the username and password for a PayPal account that is attached to a bank account or has an existing balance. Bank Account ACH will require the billing information for that account as well as the account number and routing number. 

A: Once you have established a payment method, open the main menu, and, under My Account, tap Banking Options. Tap Deposit to add funds to your wallet from your payment method. Tap Withdrawal to move funds from your wallet to your payment method.

To withdraw to PayPal, you must successfully make a deposit using it as a payment method first. There is a $2,000 monthly deposit limit, and a $5,000 maximum deposits in your wallet (does not include winnings or promotional funds).

NOTE: Only your winnings can be withdrawn. Deposits and promotional funds must be wagered. Withdrawals cannot be made to debit cards; only PayPal and Bank Account ACH support withdrawals.

A: Only winnings can be withdrawn from your player wallet to an external account (funds cannot be withdrawn to a debit card). Funds that you deposited to your wallet or that the Lottery contributed as part of a promotion are only available for use on MobilePlay games.

Winnings can only be withdrawn to PayPal or ACH payment methods. Banks do not currently allow winnings withdrawals to debit cards.

A: Currently, e-games are only available for immediate play. Once the Buy Now button is selected on an e-game, that game must be played to completion before returning to MobilePlay in the Virginia Lottery app. e-games not completed within 48 hours of purchase will be automatically completed, and the player will be alerted of the outcome.
A: Prizes between $100 and $600 must go through additional processing by the Lottery. They typically will be deposited into the player wallet in in 5 – 10 minutes. Prizes over $600 also must go through additional processing and then will be mailed to the player via check. Please confirm your address on your Player Info to guarantee receipt of payment.If you have questions concerning collection of your winnings, please contact customer service at (804) 692-7777.
A: The Lottery gaming system refreshes every night between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. MobilePlay games will not be available at that time. If it is outside of that window and you still can’t purchase games, consult with the retailer for the best spot to find the Bluetooth® signal. If problems persist, please contact customer service at (804) 692-7777.
A: The MobilePlay Bluetooth® signal is only required for the immediate purchase of games. When not in range, you can still fill out a playslip, fill your shopping cart or use the Try option on e-games. The rest of the app’s features (scanning a ticket, checking winning numbers and creating a digital playslip) are always available.
A: Generally, the best way is to try to purchase a game. If the transaction is successful, you are in range. If the transaction does not go through, check with the retailer to ensure you are in the best spot to connect to its signal.
A: Yes. Login to the app, open the main menu, tap My Account and then tap My Transactions.
